Two days ago I finished the application and handed it off to Pastor Ken. Next up – to meet the District President and set an appointment for his interview with my wife and myself.
I have also been in contact with Concordia Seminary and have that interview setup for the 1st of Jul.
And… we have a lunch date with the man who has mentored two SMP pastors through their involvement with this program.
I keep getting asked when I can start preaching – the answer isn’t necessarily “this date”. There are lot of factors involved. The first of which is actually getting accepted into the program.
After that we have to understand just exactly what a vicar is, in regards to Pilgrim – the roles I’ll be able to fill – and the structured schedule of when I can fill those roles within the established criteria of the program. Phew…
A lot of work ahead us yet – not to mention the actual school work!
If I do get accepted into the program, the cohort I will join begins study Feb 2026. So we’re still a bit out from actual schoolwork! Hopefully, the vicarage will begin this fall and I can start apprenticing then.
