Why Do I Seek to Serve the Lord as a Pastor in the LCMS?

I have a strong feeling of being called, from God, to the pastoral vocation, to preach and administer the sacraments. From the first time I assisted in the distribution of the Lord’s Supper I knew this was what I was supposed to be doing with my life.

Furthermore I admire the LCMS’ stance on the authority of Scripture being the inerrant word of God and it’s foundational stance on the authority of the Lutheran Confessions as found in the Book of Concord.

After an absence from the the liturgical and sacramental nature of worship in the Lutheran fashion, I found myself drawn back to this style of worship in the LCMS where I am fed the means of Grace through Word and Sacrament and want to pastor from that standing.

I feel the call to minister to others through preaching, teaching, and just generally shepherding people within the the confines of the true Lutheran confessions.

The historicity that the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod brings to the table, is important to me as a foundation on which I can build my own ministry. Having the traditions of Lutheranism that trace back to the forefather’s of the church, just lends credibility to the office of ministry!

I want to learn in a historically bound, Lutheran confessional & theological seminary, that is built upon the history of the Lutheran reformation and not upon the postmodern world view so prevalent in other Lutheran synods.

And finally, my congregation wants me to serve.
